Dr. Guy Watts began his medical training at the University of Western Australia and graduated with Honors in Bachelor of Medicine as and Bachelor of Surgery. Driven by a passion to become a highly skilled plastic surgeon, he completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy also through the University of Western Australia. His thesis paper was on the significant role of angiosomes in the human body, which is one of the foundation principles in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Once he completed his Basic Surgical Training in the areas of General, Cardiothoracic, Neurological and Orthopaedic Surgery he was selected for Advanced Training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (commonly referred to as FRACS). FRACS is the only government institution that is recognized for providing specialist training to Plastic Surgeons in Australia. Once certified by FRACS, Dr Watts became a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) the governing body for Specialist Plastic Surgeons in Australia.
Once he had completed his FRACS, Dr. Watts then undertook a further 4 years of training at several internationally renowned hospitals and medical facilities. Out of the four years, two were dedicated to Cleft & Craniomaxillofacial Surgery. Cleft and Craniomaxillofacial Surgery is a unique form of surgery that deals with correction of the traumatic and congenital skull, eye, ear, nasal, and facial defects. During the first year he worked in Brisbane, Australia, at the Royal Children’s and Mater Children’s Hospitals. During the second year, he worked at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada where he was awarded with the Lindsay Research Prize for his research into cranial synostosis. As part of his Cleft & Craniomaxillofacial training, Dr. Watts also participated in several humanitarian surgical missions in Africa and China.
Dr. Guy Watts was then invited to work in Manhattan, New York. During this period, he was solely focused on aesthetic plastic surgery and was introduced to the most advanced rhinoplasty techniques and procedures by the best plastic surgeons in New York. While in New York, Dr Watts worked at the world renowned New York Eye & Ear Infirmary. During this time he worked with leading Ear Nose & Throat Surgeons to gain perspectives into the nuances of functional rhinoplasty.
While in North America, Dr. Watts also worked at plastic surgery clinics in Texas, Florida, Alberta, California, and Pennsylvania. He also travelled to Europe to complete advanced rhinoplasty training in Germany at The Marien Hospital in Stuttgart. After this Dr. Watts was invited to a fellowship in Brazil, which he accepted. During the Brazilian fellowship, he trained at the country’s leading cosmetic surgery center, the Ivo Pitanguy where he focused on breast and body procedures.
After 17 years of extensive training in over seven countries, Dr. Guy Watts returned to Perth to establish his own private practice. Dr Watts has worked and trained with the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the world and brings these skills back to his patients in Perth, Australia.
